On this post, we suggest you a 1-day itinerary to explore the region of Alto Douro Vinhateiro, starting the day in Régua and ending it in Lamego.

Régua
Start your day enjoying the amazing landscapes in the pier of Régua. There, you can get tickets for a boat ride in the Douro river. There are several options, such as 45-minute rides in the calm waters.
When you return to the pier, you can visit the Museu do Douro which promotes the region and the Porto wine. There you can find a permanent exhibition and several temporary exhibitions.
Before leaving, you need to try the traditional candies from Régua! You can get them in any local store or even in the streets.
Lastly, take a minute to appreciate the metallic bridge that connects Régua and Lamego. Currently, it is only possible to cross this bridge by foot or by bike.

Lamego
Lamego is a surprising city with many places to visit. The ex-libris of Lamego is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies. The imposing staircase, the park that surrounds it and the view over the region are some of the reasons that make this place worth your visit. You can also have a picnic in the area that surrounds it!
After visiting the sanctuary, it’s time for a ride in the historical centre! There, you can visit the Lamego Cathedral.
We also recommend visiting the Castle of Lamego and the cistern. These are places that remind us of other times. Since the castle is located at a high point, you will be able to enjoy an amazing view!
